Chapter 6: A Rogue's Life

It was a bright, sunny day in late greenleaf. Shallowwave was hunting for voles in the undergrowth. The clan liked voles, but they preferred fish.  Fish were harder to get in the summer though, because they were in hiding. Shallowwave was not having any luck finding voles; they were in hiding too.
Shallowwave sniffed the ground. He did not scent any fish, but there was a smell that was getting larger as he walked out of the camp. The rotten, moldy scent was getting stronger and stronger. As he stumbled over a fallen branch, he looked up to see a twolegplace so large it was half the size of the starclan grounds. Shallowwave looked around to study his surroundings, and he heard a voice behind him.
"Good to see you again, Fire,"said the voice sarcastically. It was Moldy, the rogue who started the trouble at the small twolegplace, when the rogues had chased him into the forest. Moldy had challenged Shallowwave when he had taken Moldy's firewater. Moldy leaped towards Shallowwave's throat. Suddenly, a shape whizzed past and knocked Moldy down. The shape continued to run around Moldy. When the stinky cat finally ran away, the shape began to slow down, revealing that he was a orange and white tabby. "Hello, I am Skeeter," said the tabby. "What is yours?
"Mine is Shallowwave. I am part of the Flatland clans."
"Well,'' said Skeeter, "you best get back to your clan. I saw more rogues on the way here."
Shallowwave padded into the undergrowth. He did not want to return to the clan without prey, but he didn't want to come back with a bite in his neck, either.

  2. The skeeter character is very interesting. He is an asset to any clan with his above average speed. I hope he returns to the story.
